Browser Requirements:
Netscape Navigator version 4.0 or higher or Microsoft Internet Explorer
version 4.0 or higher. (If you are using AOL's browser, please switch
to one of the above if you experience any difficulty. To do this: log
on to AOL. Minimize the browser. Then launch either Netscape or Internet
Explorer.)
Did you purchase
the product online, or was there an access certificate (serial number)?
If the product was
purchased through an access certificate, you
must first register the serial number before you can enter
to use the product.
If the product was
bought online (through the ecatalog), you must bookmark
it immediately after linking to the start page and always access it though
the bookmark. If the bookmark is corrupted or was not created properly,
then you can re-authenticate and recreate it.
To
register an access certificate (serial number):
- Have your access
certificate handy. (You may not share a serial number with anyone else.
The serial number provides access for one person for a subscription
period. Then you must buy a new one. This can be purchased through the
South-Western
Catalog.)
- Click on the Register
button.
- Then click the
link at the bottom of the page and follow the prompts.
- IMPORTANT:
When you click on the "register" button, you will be asked
first to enter your serial number and a new or existing user name.
It is extremely important to enter your serial number exactly
as it appears on the card. Make sure you type the dashes, pay attention
to capitalization, and be certain to distinguish letters from numbers.
An "O" with a slash through it is a "zero." The letters "C," "G," and
"Q" also are frequently mis-keyed. If you do not enter your serial
number exactly as it appears on the card, you will not be able
to register properly.
To
enter when you have registered your access certificate (serial number):
- Have your username
and password that you created during registration handy. (A copy of
this is automatically emailed to you when registration is completed.)
- Click on the Enter
button.
- Then click on
the Enter Here link under "I registered Nelson & Quick Xtra!
via an ACCESS CERTIFICATE"
- Enter the username and password you created when you registered.
How
to Reauthenticate (general instructions):
- Click the Enter
button.
- Click on the Enter
Here link under "I purchased Nelson & Quick Xtra! ONLINE"
It will bring up an instructions page.
- Click the Reauthenticate
now! link at the bottom of the instructions page.
- Enter your Thomson
store username and password. This will open up your smart receipt.
- Click on the order
number link for that purchase and you will see the Access Online
link.
- Click on the Access
Online link.
- Then, before clicking
on the Access Nelson & Quick Xtra! button you need to bookmark it.
This keeps your subscription information in the link. Once you go past
the Access Nelson & Quick Xtra! button and back up to the start page
it will not work correctly. In Netscape, Bookmark this page for
future access. In IE, add this page to Favorites.
- Next time you
want to access, use the bookmark you created. Your Bookmark/Favorites
link will be called "Nelson & Quick Xtra!".
- Then click the
Access Nelson & Quick Xtra! button to enter the product.
For future visits
from the same computer:
- Follow your Bookmark/Favorites
link to Nelson & Quick Xtra!.
- Click the Access
Nelson & Quick Xtra! button to enter the product. If access is denied,
follow the re-authentication procedure.
